A bright beautiful winter morning had us standing in front
of Café Zoe for breakfast at 8.30. But unfortunately the sign at the door read
‘CLOSED’. After enquiring around, we found out that the café opens at 10. So
needless to say we were disappointed and made a mental note to call ahead
before we turned up for breakfast at anyplace if it was before 10 am. So today Café Zoe’s loss was Chayoos’s gain.
This size ‘L’ café was open and we heaved a sigh of relief
and our stomachs grumbled in anticipation. From the outside you can’t make out
that the café is pretty big. The open plan with the up-turned kullhad and bright yellow cycle
wheels as lamp shades added to the rustic atmosphere.
We ordered a spinach corn cheese sandwich which was very
cheesy. I know with a name like that it is supposed to be cheesy but it was so
cheesy that even my daughter – who loves cheese – could not finish it.
Then we had keema pao which was average and the moist
chocolate cake which was good.
The tea was desi chai regular and if you want it in a kullhad
you have to dish out an additional Rs. 20.
I felt that everything here was just a tad overpriced.
PS: Bathroom – Better hold it.
