A few months back an early morning appointment at
Colaba had me all dressed up at 7 am. A friend of mine had very graciously
agreed to accompany me for this boring appointment. Her incentive – and truth
be told even mine – was breakfast at Bake House Café. It was a relatively new
outlet and she had read rave online reviews about their breakfast. So very
excited and in complete anticipation we arrived at the café around 8.30 am. The
place was already doing business, and a couple of tables were presently
occupied.
I loved the look, feel and smell of this size ‘M’ cafe.
It had the look and the feel of a European café. The tiled floor, the glassed food
display and the open rack bread display add to the ambience. Along with chairs
with English themes painted on the back rest, vintage heirloom pale blue plates
and black-and-white photographs with red pops of the three most iconic symbols
of London, the red bus, the red phone booth and the red ‘Underground’ sign on
one of the walls all add to the mood of a café in a by-lane of London. And it
smelt of fresh bread and cooked eggs, in a good way. The whole atmosphere made
me feel welcome and the aroma made the rats in my stomach dance with joy and expectation.

We also ordered the sunrise surprise breakfast tray.
All good.
But the best dish was sirloin steak sandwich (beef).
The taste was awesome. If you eat beef do try this one.
The juices were malta orange and pineapple.
Refreshing…
They have a very cosy set up on the first floor, would
be a perfect spot for an evening with friends and family.
PS: Nice clean bathroom (on the first floor).
