A hectic evening of running errands and shopping in
Thakur Village had the whole family super hungry around 7.30 pm. So after
consulting our favourite app Zomato, we decided to try this relatively new
place called Café Social Beans. Owned and managed by two young people Praveer
and Shradha, it’s a cozy little place tucked at the corner next to Thakur
Institute of Management Studies. This size ‘S’ outlet is only around 9-10
months old. It’s quirky and colourful and perfect for college going kids to
hang around during the day.
We had ordered nachos with chicken and cheese, grilled
chicken with cilantro sauce, BBQ chicken pizza and junglee sandwich to be
washed down with cold coffee, lemon mojito and a latte.
The nachos were good; I loved the fact that there were
kidney beans thrown in together with the chicken and cheese. The portion was
good, the cheese sauce accompanying it was silken and light. The only thing
perhaps that could have made the dish excellent would be if the nachos were a
little thinner. The BBQ pizza was good. Thin crusted with stretchy cheese and
the right amount of topping, it’s a good choice.
Grilled chicken with cilantro sauce was the surprise.
Generally, I don’t like green food items but even with the first bite I
realised the sauce was delicious. The rice accompanying it was perfectly
seasoned. The chicken was well done; though it would be great if the dish was
accompanied by a few sautéed vegetables. But then again I am thinking like a
mother – have your chicken but have your vegies too. May be the college kids
are happy to have it without the veggies.
The last food item was the junglee sandwich, this was
the only thing we didn’t enjoy, there wasn’t a whole lot happening in terms of
taste. Of course we ate all the chips.
The drinks were good.
All in all a good evening, the kids enjoyed the nachos
and pizza and we enjoyed the chicken with cilantro sauce. Praveer was our host
for the evening and he was attentive and prompt.
